Sundar Pichai, sometimes known as Sundar Pichai Sundararajan, is an Indian-born American executive who served as the CEO of Google, Inc. (2015–) and its parent firm, Alphabet Inc. (2019–). He was born in Madras [now Chennai], Tamil Nadu, India, on June 10, 1972.

Pichai slept in the family room of the compact family house as a child in Madras, but his father, an electrical engineer with the British multinational GEC, ensured that the boys received an excellent education. Pichai showed an early interest in technology as well as an exceptional memory, particularly for phone numbers. He was offered a scholarship to study at Stanford University after obtaining a degree in metallurgy (B.Tech., 1993) and a silver medal at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (M.S. in engineering and materials science, 1995). He stayed in the United States after that, briefly working for Applied Materials (a semiconductor materials supplier) before getting an M.B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School in 2002.

Sundar Pichai is the chief Operating officer of Google Inc. and a computer engineer. Google, a technological business that specialises in Web services and products, underwent significant corporate restructuring in 2015, after which Alphabet Inc was established as its parent company, with Larry Page as CEO and Sergey Brin as President. Pichai, who formerly served as Google's head of Hardware and Engineering, has been named the company's new CEO. Google is Alphabet Inc's largest subsidiary. Pichai joined Google as a product manager in 2004 and led the innovation efforts for several of Google's products, including Google Chrome and Chrome OS, both of which were hugely successful.

Early Life:

Pichai Sundararajan was born on July 12, 1972, in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India. `Regunatha Pichai, his father, worked as an electronic engineer for the British consortium GEC and handled an electrical component factory. His mother worked as a stenographer before having children, and he only had one brother.

Pichai was a talented student who was raised in a middle-class family. At Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan, he excelled academically and was accepted into the Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur, one of India's most prominent engineering institutes. He received his B.Tech in Metallurgical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur before winning a scholarship to Stanford University to learn materials science and semiconductor physics, where he eventually earned his M.S.

He eventually progressed through the ranks of Google, taking over the administration of other Google products such as Gmail and Google Docs. Pichai, who was born in Chennai, India, was intelligent and imaginative from an early age. He specialised in engineering and product management at Applied Materials and management consulting at McKinsey & Company before joining Google. He obtained his education from some of the world's most respected schools. Pichai has been well loved by his coworkers, who refer to him as "the man behind Google's most essential products."

Career:

Initially, he intended to obtain a Ph.D. from Stanford and pursue a career in academia. He quit university, though, and went to work as an engineer and product manager for Applied Materials, a Silicon Valley semiconductor company. He was only there for a very brief period of time. In 2002, he received his MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was named a Siebel Scholar and a Palmer Scholar.

• He was hired as a business consultant at McKinsey & Company after completing his MBA. In 2004, he joined Google. He started off as part of a small team working on Google's search toolbar. The toolbar provides easy access to Google search for Internet Explorer and Firefox users. He also worked on Google Gears and Google Pack, among other Google projects. Pichai was inspired by the popularity of Google's toolbar to create his own browser. When he presented his concept to his bosses, he was met with resistance from then-CEO Eric Schmidt, who feared that constructing a browser would be prohibitively expensive.

• Pichai, on the other hand, persisted in persuading Google's co-founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, to launch their own browser. Pichai was a key figure in the 2008 launch of Google Chrome, the company's browser. Chrome was a huge hit because it allowed users to access Google's search engine directly. Following the extraordinary success of Chrome, Pichai became an internationally recognised personality, overtaking adversaries such as Internet Explorer and Firefox to become the world's No. 1 browser. Chrome opened the door for a slew of other noteworthy products, including Chrome OS, Chromebooks, and Chromecast.

• In 2008, Pichai was named Vice President of Product Development. While in this position, he began appearing more consistently at Google presentations and rose up the ranks at Google. He was promoted to Senior Vice President of Chrome and Apps in 2012. Andy Rubin, the developer of Android, decided to take a major step and quit in 2013 to focus on a new project. Pichai was then given control of Android by Larry Page.His influence expanded, and he was appointed to Product Chief in October 2014.

• In 2015, Google launched Alphabet Inc. as a private equity firm and conglomerate to own Google's previously owned businesses, including a new "slimmed down" version of the corporation itself. Sundar Pichai was designated Google's next CEO on August 10, 2015. He received 273,328 shares of Alphabet, Google's holding company, in February 2016, increasing his net worth. • When Pichai was at school, he was a standout cricket player. Even back then, his leadership abilities were clear, as he was picked ahead of his high school cricket team.

• Pichai earned a Metallurgy degree from one of India's most famous universities, as well as a scholarship to Stanford University, where he studied materials science and semiconductor physics.

• Because Pichai's father was not wealthy, it was impossible for him to send him abroad for further education. His father, on the other hand, was able to spend $1000 from the family's resources to cover Pichai's travel and other expenditures.

• During a digital commencement ceremony on June 8, 2020, in an address to pupils. When Pichai left India for Stanford, he disclosed that it cost his father a year's salary to book a flight to the United States.His father paid for his flight ticket to the United States, which cost approximately a year's income, so that he could attend Stanford. He had never been on an aircraft before.
